WARNING: SUPER IMAGE HEAVY!
Hey ya’ll! I’ve made another tutorial! This one will teach you how to make a BASIC CIRCLE SKIRT with WAISTBAND AND ZIPPER. I consider this to be a BEGINNER to INTERMEDIATE level project!
The first part of the tutorial is based off of Taeliac’s (deviantart user) awesome circle skirt tutorial, and the portion with the faced zipper comes from Casey Brown Design’s tutorial. I take no credit for their work and you should definitely check out both of them if there’s something that doesn’t make sense in my tutorial! Taeliac focuses on costume-relevant tutorials and Casey Brown has a number of very good sewing tutorials to help build skills.
I’ve only made one circle skirt so far, worn with my Jade Harley Godtier costume over a petticoat.
Continued under the cut.
So I got a lot of questions about my God Tier Jade hood, as seen in [S] Kids: Rise Up. I have created a tutorial (with photos!) that should hopefully help you out creating your own. It is COMPLETELY based off of the tutorial by everyonesahero , so they get full credit for the original tutorial! I can only take credit for the few modifications I made.
I would consider this an intermediate –to-advanced project.
(The tutorial is contained under the cut, because it’s insanely long and image heavy)
“A Strapless That Stays Put” by Kenneth D. King
Featured in Threads magazine, issue #46, pp. 52-56
A couple years ago I inherited a bunch of old copies of Threads magazine after my grandmother passed away, and this article is by far one of the most useful discussions of dressmaking technique for strapless bodices that I’ve run across. I scanned it for my own personal use, but since I’ve been getting a couple questions about a couple of my projects, I figured I would share it with you guys!
Step 1: Made the mock-up
And then stuff happened.
And yeah. That’s how it happened. I think there are 3 layers of interfacing per piece just so you know.
I am still here and going to do things.
Just so Tumblr knows i’m not hoarding this URL :/
The beta and alpha kid emblems as created by Andrew Hussie for Homestuck (all rights belonging to him, these charts are meant for personal use only); charted to the same scale as the previous zodiac and god tier signs. All charts are 50 sts by 60 rows and the image is centered on that…
Not sewing, but still badass :) Wanted to archive it.
MY FIRST FORAY INTO THE WORLD OF KNITS WAS A SUCCESS
ALWAYS USE DOUBLE-STITCH SEAMS AND THEN DO A ZIGZAG TO REINFORCE
STRETCH THE FABRIC SLIGHTLY
DO NOT TRY TO CUT OUT YOUR FABRIC ON CARPET, THE KNIT WILL GET BUNCHY AND YOU’LL GET PISSED OFF AND WISH YOU’D DONE IT ON A FLAT HARD SURFACE LIKE YOU SHOULD DO WITH ALL YOUR FABRIC JEGUS YOU’RE DUMB SOMETIMES
I LOVE LATE NIGHT SEWING IT’S THE BEST TIME TO SEW
When I finish the turtleneck I’ll post pics. Or maybe when I finish my super awesome jumper. That’d work too. EITHER ONE .
God I’m tired.
